Snatch & Clean - Squat to Hinge

To help with your timing and positions in the snatch and clean, think of the first pull as a squat and the second pull as a hip hinge.

This will help you stay over the bar until you’re past the knee while maintaining your posture.

Just remember that during the hinge, you need to continue pushing powerfully with your legs.

This is over-simplified without a doubt, but the point is to give you a simple concept of the pull with common terms to create cues—to give you a stripped-down model that helps you execute the movement better instead of thinking your way through it.

The most important point to remember is that the second pull is not JUST hip extension—it requires a continued and equally explosive push with the legs.
