Spread the Elbows in the Jerk

When we push the bar with the arms in the jerk, we want to spread the elbows.

The late Tommy Kono described this motion like opening French doors.

This moves the elbows under the bar sooner into a stronger pushing position, helps guide the bar back behind the neck, and internally rotates the arm to finish in stronger lockout position.

Practice with light presses and push presses.
