Push up on the bar and follow it with your body—Imagine the bar pulling you up.
We want to maintain close to the same back angle all the way up to maximize stability overhead.
Just squatting up keeps the focus on the legs and hips, and will tend to tip you forward, which creates shoulder instability and makes the bar want to fall forward.
Practice with slow overhead squats and pause overhead squats, focusing on consistent upright posture.
