How Long between Clean and Jerk?
How much time should you take between the clean and the jerk? As much time as you need and not a split second more.
You’re not going to finally figure out how to jerk in that time, so don’t extend it—more thinking will always mean less jerking.
You have a few things to do:
Get your air so you’re ready to get a final breath to brace your trunk.
Ensure you’re in the correct drive stance and rack position.
And give yourself the ONE most important cue to eliminate over-thinking and properly focus your effort.
Anything beyond this is just time to get more fatigued from supporting the bar, notice how heavy the bar is, start doubting your ability, and realize that jerks are actually impossible.
